"Most states appear to establish criminal penalties for preparing a reproduction of such a record only if a reproduction is prepared or used with the intent to deceive or defraud"
“Apart from Wisconsin, none of the states in the Midwest appear to provide criminal penalties for the conduct the constituent described-that is, reproducing a record for the purposes of conducting genealogical research only.”
Questions: Was the LRB contacted in 2016 when the law was last changed, and what did they say then vs what got changed. It seems to me the glaringly obvious stuff about a felony without considering intent should have been addressed decades ago.
